I like the angle you chose for the shading on his face; it gives his features a gentle look, without making his cheeks overly full. The darker shading and detail for the shadow on the edges of his features (the side of his head and his jaw) also creates a nice transition into his hair. I've noticed that when I'm sketching someone of a darker/medium complexion who has black hair, not creating a proper transition for the shadows ends up making the subject look almost white!
